Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 31, 2026

Pedal Notes ("we", "our", or "us") is a tool that helps private music tutors and other instructors keep lesson records and send progress reports. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

Who This Policy Covers

Two different groups of people appear in Pedal Notes, and it matters which one you are.

If you are a parent or a school and you want to know what a tutor has recorded about a student, the tutor is the right person to ask first. They control that information and can view, correct, or delete it at any time. If you cannot reach them, contact us and we will help.

Information We Collect

Information tutors give us

Payment information

If you subscribe to Pedal Notes Pro, payment is handled by Stripe, or by Apple if you subscribe through the iOS app. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of your subscription status so we know which features to enable on your account.

Information collected automatically

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how people find and use Pedal Notes.

We also use advertising and measurement tools from third parties on our public website. These may include the Meta (Facebook) pixel and similar tools from other advertising platforms. They tell us things like how many people visited after seeing an ad and whether they created an account. This involves sharing limited technical information, such as your IP address and the pages you viewed, with those companies, who may combine it with information they already hold about you.

You can limit this in a few ways:

These advertising tools run on our marketing pages. We do not use them to track what you write inside your account, and we never share student information with advertising platforms.

How We Use Information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use student information for advertising.

Who We Share Information With

We share information only with the companies that help us run Pedal Notes, and only as far as they need it:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of our users. If Pedal Notes is ever sold or merged, your information could transfer as part of that, and we would tell you before it happened.

Student and Children's Information

This section matters most, because much of the information in Pedal Notes is about young people who never signed up for anything.

Pedal Notes is designed for adults. Students do not create accounts, do not sign in, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from a child. Everything recorded about a student is entered by their tutor.

Because of that, tutors carry real responsibility here:

We handle student information on behalf of the tutor, not for our own purposes. We do not use it to advertise, we do not sell it, and we do not build profiles from it.

If you are a parent or guardian and you want a student's information reviewed, corrected, or removed, contact the tutor first, since they can do it immediately. You can also contact us at the address below and we will assist, including removing the information ourselves if needed.

How Long We Keep Information

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase on servers in the United States. Traffic is encrypted in transit using HTTPS, and access to accounts requires authentication. We use reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect information, though no online service can promise perfect security.

If you use Pedal Notes from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and stored in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as requesting a copy of your information, asking us to delete it, or objecting to certain uses. Contact us and we will respond. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you in the app or by email.

Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
